What We Believe

God, our Father

God is the one and only sovereign Creator and Sustainer of mankind. He is a spirit being, holy and perfect (sinless). He is all-knowing, all-powerful, everywhere present, and eternally existent. God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit are three distinct persons of one Triune God. Each person of the Godhead is co-equal in being, co-identical in nature, co-equal in power and glory, and having the same attributes and perfection.

Jesus Christ

Jesus is "God in the flesh." He existed in the beginning with God, and was God. He revealed Himself by being born of a virgin, by the power of the Holy Spirit. He lived a sinless life, despite many temptations. Jesus was crucified and died a physical death as atonement for the sins of mankind. He was the first person to defeat the power of sin and experience a physical and eternal resurrection. Jesus will return as the victorious Lord of those who follow Him and will judge those who have rejected Him.

Holy Spirit

All Christians are sealed with the Holy Spirit. He is our comforter and teacher. He empowers us to understand the Word, and gives spiritual gifts for the edification of the church. He teaches us how to follow Jesus in thought, word, deed, and character.

Salvation and Church Membership

Membership at Moriah Bible Fellowship is extended to all people who are members of Christ's Church and are willing to unite in common purpose to further the kingdom of God. This means they have established a trusting faith in Jesus to provide redemption, according to a simple Bible response in Acts 2:38 and in Romans 10:9, that "If you confess with your mouth Jesus {as} Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you shall be saved. . ."

Bible

We believe the Bible, in its original writings, is inspired by God and is therefore without error or contradiction. It is the sole authority for our faith, doctrine and Christian living.

Mankind

Men and women were created in the image of God but are now separated from Him by sin. Faith in Jesus Christ, based on his sacrifice at the cross, is the only way for men and women to be reconciled to God. Salvation is offered to all men and women by the grace of God through faith in Jesus Christ. Salvation is a free gift to those who are willing to receive it.

Same Sex Attraction

We have a very special burden with our brothers and sisters struggling with same sex attraction (SSA). Unlike many ministries that focus on the process of coping with conditions that can never really be changed, Moriah extends the hope that God can fully heal and restore to heterosexual attraction.
